Rowlatt Act or law enforcement to enter a building without a search warrant. To increase its hold on the general populace, the British government passed the Rowlatt Act. In March 1919, Rowlatt Act was approved by the Imperial Legislative Council. This law gave the British government the authority to detain anyone suspected of terrorism. Government can detain such suspects in jail for up to two years without a trial. It allowed showing Indians' resistance to this law, known as the Rowlatt Act. Gandhi and the other leaders called for a Hartal (suspension of work). Consequently, this act was later repealed.
