Detailed Solution

The metal present in chlorophyll is magnesium.

The pigment present in the leaf, which gets its green colour and helps prepare food for plants, is known as chlorophyll.

Chlorophyll is a porphyrin derivative with magnesium (Mg) as the central atom and becomes a metal complex dye. Chloroplasts in all green parts of plants contain this as a mixture of yellow-green chlorophyll b and blue-green chlorophyll. This is mainly used as the catalyst for photosynthesis.
