The method better for separating insoluble solids from a liquid is filtration.
Filtration can separate solids which are additionally lighter than the liquid and are   quicker. Any insoluble solid can be separated from a liquid using any filtering device, such as filter paper, and this process is called filtration. In this process, the insoluble solid is left on the filtering device, and the liquid passes through the filtering device. Settling down heavier insoluble particles/ solids from a mixture of a solid and liquid is called sedimentation. Decantation is pouring out of the heavy clear layer of liquid into any other box to separate immiscible liquids.
