Detailed Solution

  • Since chloroform and aniline are mixtures of miscible liquids, evaporation, and crystallization cannot be used. Both Evaporation and Crystallisation are used to separate the solid-liquid mixtures.
  • The difference in the boiling point of both liquids is more than 25K so fractional distillation is not used.
  • So in order to separate the mixture of chloroform and aniline the best method is distillation.
  • Chloroform will vaporize first and then condense to form the liquid again in the flask. Aniline will remain in the distillation flask.
