Transhipment losses are removed through the Pipeline. Initial costs for laying pipeline networks are high, while the prices are minimal. For industries and cities, pipelines were used to transport water in the past. Currently, channels transport natural gas and oil from oil and natural gas fields. It is also used for transporting petroleum products and crude oil to thermal power plants, fertiliser factories, and refineries. Transportation from pipelines was envisaged from the distant inland locations of gas-based fertiliser plants and refineries in Panipat, Mathura, and Barauni.
