What makes octopuses even more special is the type of blood they have. Unlike humans, who use iron-based hemoglobin, octopuses have copper-based hemocyanin in their blood. This gives their blood a bluish color instead of red. Hemocyanin works better than hemoglobin in cold and low-oxygen environments, which is very useful for deep-sea living.

Another interesting fact is that when an octopus swims, its systemic heart actually stops beating. This is why octopuses prefer crawling rather than swimming for long distancesit saves them energy and reduces strain on their circulatory system.

Having three hearts is just one of the many incredible adaptations of octopuses. They are known for their intelligence, problem-solving skills, ability to camouflage, and flexibility. All these features, along with their efficient circulation, help them thrive as one of the most unique creatures of the ocean.
