Food poisoning is a common condition that occurs when you consume food or drinks contaminated with harmful bacteria, viruses, or other toxins. 

A number of bacteria are responsible for causing food intoxication by multiplying and releasing harmful toxins. Bacterial species of Salmonella, Shigella, Staphylococcus, and Clostridium are majorly responsible for food contamination and food poisoning whereas Mycobacterium species does not cause food poisoning primarily. Mycobacterium causes respiratory tract and lung infections.
