In Figure B, the battery is connected to his two bulbs, both bulbs are consuming the battery at a very high rate, but connecting the two bulbs gives more light. In figure C the cell is connected to a light bulb. This bulb uses less power than two bulbs and also provides light. In Figure D, the cell is connected to a light bulb through a switch. This is the most convenient way to connect light bulbs as it consumes electricity cells at a very low rate.
In all these cases, we found that when the cell was exhausted, we got an output in the form of light. No energy is wasted in these three cases, but in Figure A the cell's positive pole is connected to the cell's negative pole. We don't use electricity, it just flows through wires.
