Detailed Solution

Release of renin from JGA of kidneys occurs in response to low blood pressure or decreased sodium levels. Renin acts on angiotensinogen, a protein produced by the liver, to cleave a portion of it, forming angiotensin I. ACE, which is primarily located in the endothelium of blood vessels, particularly in the lungs, converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor, which leads to an increase in blood pressure. It also stimulates the release of the hormone aldosterone from the adrenal glands.
