Detailed Solution

The United Kingdom and The United States have a bi-party system.
When in a country where there are two major parties contesting elections. However, other parties are participating in the polls. But they are not that strong and get very few votes to form the government. So only the two influential parties have a chance of winning the elections. So the government switches between those parties.
In some cases, the bi-party system has proved more stable and beneficial. On the other hand, a multi-party system has more chances of conflict and mess. The Labour Party and the United Kingdom's Conservative Party are examples of bi-party systems. Another example is the Republican Party and Democratic Party in the United States.
