Detailed Solution

Sri Lanka practised majoritarian policies. India and Belgium, on the other hand, have followed an accommodative approach. Majoritarianism is a type of government policy in which the government provides particular benefits to the majority community, usually a religious or linguistic group. Sri Lanka gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1948. Because the Sinhala community was the majority, they constituted the government. The government's actions increasingly exacerbated the feeling of isolation among Sri Lankan Tamils. Sri Lankan Tamils claimed that the constitution and government policies denied them equal political rights, discriminated against them in employment and other opportunities, and ignored their concerns. This created animosity among the social groups leading to a civil war in Sri Lanka.
