The proportion of people in different countries living in extreme economic poverty is a global trend. Many countries still have poverty, but many have reduced it to a greater extent. The number of people living in extreme economic instability has declined substantially. It has declined from 36% in 1990 to 10% in 2015. Poverty has declined substantially in China, East Asia, the Pacific, and southeastern countries. The poor in China decreased from 88.3% in 1981 to 14.7% in 2008 to 0.7% in 2015. South Asia is the area with the largest concentration of the poor. However, there is an abundant reduction in poverty.
