The colour of an object is determined by the colour of light reflected by it.
Sunlight is composed of different colours. When white light falls on glass prism it scatters into different colours and a band of visible colours emerges out of prism. It shows that sunlight consists of more than one lights of different colours. Therefore, when white Sun light incidents of objects, they reflect some coloured light from the band of visible colours. The Colour of that object depends on that one particular colour of light reflected by it from band of visible colours. For example, leaves appear green because it reflects green light and absorbs other colours as shown in figure1. Therefore, the colour of an object is determined by the colour of light reflected by it.
