Detailed Solution

Hinduism developed as the predominant religion in Ahom society.
In the Brahmaputra Valley of Assam, the Ahom Kingdom came into being in the late medieval period in 1228. It is renowned for having a diverse ethnic population and for successfully defending its independence from the Mughal Empire for 600 years. The native populace of the area was given access to the technology that Sukaphaa and his group had brought along with them. In 1662, the Mughals invaded the Ahom kingdom but were defeated in the famous Battle of Saraighat by the Ahoms. In addition, their culture was structured into khels or clans. They honoured their respective tribal deities. However, the Ahom tribe converted to Hinduism.
