The Society of Revolutionary and Republican Women were an important political club formed by women in France. Between May 10 and September 16, 1793, the society only existed for over five months. Nevertheless, the society promoted female equality in revolutionary politics and garnered considerable attention from the country's political establishment. One of their key objectives was for women's political rights to be equal to those of men. The Constitution of 1791's treatment of women as passive citizens disappointed women. They requested the right to vote, to be chosen for the Assembly, and to occupy political office. They believed that the new government wouldn't reflect their interests until then.
