Detailed Solution

Caribbean islands comprise Trinidad, Guyana, and Suriname. An island nation in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius, officially known as the Republic of Mauritius, is about 2,000 kilometres off the southeast coast of the African continent, east of Madagascar. It includes the main island (Mauritius), Agaléga, Rodrigues, and St. Brandon. Mauritius came into Dutch possession in 1598. After the Dutch, France took control over Mauritius in 1715 and renamed the island Isle de France. After France, the United Kingdom gained control over Mauritius.  France ceded Mauritius and its dependencies to the United Kingdom four years later in the Treaty of Paris (1814).
