  • The hypothalamus, pituitary and pineal are all parts of our brain. Oxytocin is synthesized by the hypothalamus and released from the posterior pituitary. Prolactin is secreted by the anterior pituitary. Melatonin is secreted by the pineal gland (epiphysis), which is a part of the epithalamus (dorsal part of diencephalon). 
  • Progesterone is secreted by the ovary (corpus luteum) and the placenta. 
  • PTH is secreted by the parathyroid glands.
