It is also used to make ceramics and fertilisers. India produced about  2.83 million metric tons of manganese in the financial year 2019. It is estimated to decrease to 2.37 million metric tons by 2022. Manganese is produced in India in Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujrat, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh (leading producer).
