The Bahujan Samaj Party is a national party. BSP, commonly known as “Baspa” among the citizens, is a political party founded by Kanshi Ram. Kanshi Ram’s disciple, student Mayawati, is the current leader of the party now. She has become the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The party works as a representative of the marginalised sections of Indian society. It aims for the upliftment of the scheduled castes (SCs), the scheduled tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). There are a total of eight national political parties in India.
