Detailed Solution

Kathak is an Indian classical dance form. Kathak derives from the word Katha, which means "story" in Sanskrit and other languages. The Kathaks were a caste of storytellers who performed in north Indian temples using gestures and singing. Kathak evolved into a new style of dance with the advent of the Bhakti movement in the 15th and 16th centuries. Rasa-Lila was a sort of folk theatre that combined Kathak storytellers' basic gestures with folk dance, featuring Radha-Krishna stories. It was afterwards endorsed by the Mughal Emperors and the Nawab of Awadh. Following that, it spread to several northern Indian states, including Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and others.
