Protein is present in the secreted fibre of silkworms.
The protein-based fibre that the caterpillar or silkworm secretes hardens when air exposure and becomes silk fibre. The silkworm uses the cocoon to thoroughly coat itself in silk fibres and is subsequently processed to produce silk fibres. Silk protein mainly consists of sericin and fibroin. Silk is lacking in cellulose and fat. Nylon is a synthetic fibre. Hence, protein is present in the secreted fibre of silkworms.
