The Caravan of Banjaras was known as the tanda. The most significant group of trade nomads were the Banjaras. The Banjaras were used by Sultan Alauddin Khalji to convey grain to the markets in the cities. They transported grain from various locations on their bullocks and sold it in towns. During military operations, they transported food and grain for the Mughal army. They purchased grain in cheaply accessible locations, transported it to more expensive locations, and afterwards loaded their oxen once more with whatever might be sold profitably in other locations. Long-distance pastoral nomads ate milk and other pastoral products while travelling with their animals. They bartered grain, cloth, utensils, and other goods for wool, ghee, and other goods with established farmers.
