Detailed Solution

Jaundice is an inflammatory disease of the liver. When too many red blood cells die or break down (hemolysis) and travel to the liver, the liver produces too much bilirubin. This is why people with jaundice have characteristic symptoms like yellowish skin and eyes and concentrated dark yellow urine.

Kala-azar (visceral leishmaniasis) is caused by a protozoan parasite Leishmania.

Staph bacteria cause large, painful bumps that resemble acne on our skin and noses.

The parasite Trypanosoma affects the brain, causing inflammatory responses leading to sleeping sickness.

Thus, infection with jaundice does not affect the heart.
