Detailed Solution

The Golgi complex, also known as the Golgi apparatus or Golgi body, is an organelle found in eukaryotic cells.

It is responsible for modifying, sorting, and packaging proteins and lipids for delivery to various destinations within the cell or for secretion outside of the cell. It is also involved in the synthesis of certain carbohydrates and the formation of lysosomes.

However, the synthesis of lipids occurs mainly in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER), not in the Golgi complex.
