A sound is basically a sequence which can propagate through a compressible medium like water or air. There are three conditions for hearing a sound; a vibrating body is a must which allows transferring of sound energy to its surroundings, a material medium so that sound waves can propagate in the forward direction, and a receiver to receive sound vibrations and then transfer them to the brain.
