Moth silk is not a type of silk.
Silk is a natural fibre that is obtained from animals. Mulberry, tussar, and muga are varieties of silk produced by different rearing species. The moth is a silkworm under development inside a cocoon. Larvae develop from the female silk moth's hatched eggs. Caterpillars or silkworms are other names for these female moth larvae. These silkworms develop further and reach the pupa stage, where the fibre is secreted. Hence, the moth is not silk.
