Detailed Solution

A zymogen (proenzyme) is an inactive precursor of an enzyme. Proteolytic enzymes (e.g., pepsin, trypsin and carboxypeptidase) are secreted into the lumen of alimentary canal as proenzymes (pepsinogen, trypsinogen and procarboxypeptidase) to prevent the autodigestion of the cells they secrete them. Lipase is secreted in an active form.
