Detailed Solution

Issuing currency  is not the function of commercial banks.
The main function of the Reserve Bank of India is to issue currency. A commercial bank is a financial institution that carries out all the operations regarding deposits, withdrawal of money, loans, and other activities. The functions of a bank are divided into primary and secondary:
1)      Primary functions: The banks accept public deposits and use them to provide loans and advances to those in need. These two are the primary functions of the bank.
2)      Secondary functions: Functions other than lending and borrowing are secondary. It can provide overdraft facilities, locker facilities and buying and selling securities.
