Detailed Solution

Oxygen is formed during combustion. This is not true for combustion.
Combustion is a chemical process in which a substance reacts with oxygen in the air and burns, producing heat. Some light is also produced in this process in the form of flame or glow. All the carbon compounds burn in oxygen to give carbon dioxide and water in the form of vapours. The substance which burns in the presence of air to produce heat and light is called a combustible substance. For example, coal burns to produce carbon dioxide, heat and light. The substance which does not burn is said to be non-combustible substances like sand and water.
