The size of the nucleus is related to Rutherford’s scattering experiment.
In 1910, Ernest Rutherford carried out an experiment with gold foil also known as the alpha particle scattering experiment from where he came to know about the size of the nucleus. He observed that a very small number of alpha particles were deflected from large angles which shows that there are some areas inside the atom which are positively charged. The positively charged areas are known as the “nucleus”. The discovery of the nucleus helps Rutherford to estimate the size of the nucleus.
