Detailed Solution

Planet Mercury has a slate grey colour.
Mercury is the most nearest planet to the Sun. Mercury is the smallest planet without any satellite of its own. It is difficult to observe this planet since it is hidden in the radiance of the Sun. But still, this planet can be observed near the horizon just before sunrise or after sunset. For one complete rotation, it takes 59 days, and the period of revolution is 88 days. Since this planet revolves around the Sun for 88 days, it is considered the fastest planet in the solar system.
Mercury has a slate grey colour. Mercury has a dark grey colour and a rocky surface which is covered with a thick layer of dust. The surface is thought to be made up of igneous silicate rocks and dust. Patches of a carbon-rich material called graphite — the same stuff that's in pencil — cover Mercury's surface, tinting it dark grey.
