Catenation is defined as the chemical linkage into chains of atoms of the same element.
Catenation is a property of an element which is defined as chemical linkage into a chain of atoms of the same element. It means if an element has the ability to make bonds with itself, it can show catenation. This property is predominant in carbon, sulphur, silicon etc. atoms. Linkage of any atom with carbon or oxygen is not called catenation.
