VIBGYOR is the correct sequence of colour in primary rainbow.
The deviation of violet colour light is maximum and the deviation of red colour light is minimum. The colours are in the following order - violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and then red in a primary rainbow which gives VIBGYOR. As the violet colour has the smallest wavelength among all the other colours in a primary rainbow, thus the violet colour suffers the maximum refraction and it appears on the innermost layer. The red colour has the highest wavelength and thus deviation of red light is minimum of all and appears on the outermost layer.
