Detailed Solution

Luni is the main river of the Indian desert. The desert forms the western part of India. It lies on the western border of the Aravalli hills. This area receives very little rainfall owing to the location of the Aravalli hills. The Aravallis act as the barrier to the moist winds that would cause rain. Thus leaving the western part of India which comprises Rajasthan., Gujarat, and some parts of the Haryana desert as dry land. Streams appear in arid areas during the rainy season and disappear in the sand because of a lack of water to sustain them. Luni is the only large river in this location.
