The mass of HCl required if 1.06 g of Na2CO3 completely reacts with HCl to produce 1.17 g NaCl and 0.62 g of H2CO3 and the reaction follows the law of conservation of mass is 0.73 g

The chemical reaction is, Na2CO3+ 2HCl    2NaCl + H2CO3

Here, Na2CO3 and HCl are the reactants.
NaCl  and H2CO3 are the products.

The law of conservation of mass said that, “the total mass of the reactants is equal to the total mass of the products.”
Therefore,

The total mass of the reactants = Total mass of the products.
Or, Mass of Na2CO3 + Mass of HCl  = Mass of NaCl + Mass of H2CO3
Or, 1.06 g + Mass of HCl  = 1.17 g + 0.62 g
 

So, Mass of HCl is = 1.17 g + 0.62 g - 1.06 g
                                     = 0.73 g
Therefore, 0.73 g of HCl is required to complete the above reaction.
