Detailed Solution

The Gujjar Bakarwals of Jammu and Srinagar are nice herders of goats and sheep. Several of them migrated to the present region in the nineteenth century in search of pastures for their animals. Gradually, over the decades, they established themselves within the space and affected it annually between their summer and winter grazing grounds. The cushion shepherds of Himachal Pradesh had the same cycle of seasonal movement. They, too, spent their winter within the low hills of the Siwalik range, grazing their flocks in scrub forests. In the deserts of Rajasthan, the Raikas lived. The downfall within the region was insufficient and uncertain. On tilth, harvests fluctuate each year. Over huge stretches, no crop may well be grown. It seems that the Raikas combined cultivation with pastoralism.
