The reason for not storing curd and sour substances in brass and copper vessels is that curd is acidic in nature.
Sour substances and curd are acidic. Acids attack most metals. Copper and brass vessels are not used to store curd, and acidic substances are acidic because they react to toxic compounds and make the foodstuff unfit for consumption. Also, hydrogen gas and other harmful products are formed as the metal reacts with the acid to form hydrogen gas, and therefore the food gets spoiled.
