The reason why HCl, HNO3 etc. show acidic characters in aqueous solutions while solutions of compounds like C2H5OH and glucose does not show acidic character because there is production of hydrogen ions in acids.
The aqueous solutions of HCl and HNO3 ionise to produce H+ ions. Due to the production of hydrogen ions in the aqueous solutions, they show an acidic character. But compounds like C2H5OH and glucose dissolve in water and dissociate to produce OH-  ions but not H+ ions; thus, they don’t have an acidic character. The presence of OH-  ions in glucose indicate that it is a base.
