Since oxygen contains 8 electrons. Consequently, O2's electronegative configuration

​the result of having 16 electrons

Bond order :- NaNb2=|610|2=2

O2 has a bond order of 2.

Given that carbon contains six electrons, the electrical configuration of carbon with twelve electrons is

Bond order:-  |48|2=2

So, the bond order of  C2 is 2 .

C2 and  O2 have same  B.O = 2.0  but C2 has 2π bonds while O2 has 10 and  1π.
