Jawahar Lal Nehru headed Awadh Kisan Sabha when the people participated in non-cooperation against Britishers. In some areas and regions non-cooperation movement was held against people of talukdars and landlords because talukdars and landlords were not against Britishers. We can say that NCM was against Britishers, but in rural areas, the peasants and local public started NCM against talukdars and landlords who demanded high rents and taxes. They exploited the peasants and public by forcing them to do “begar” for work at the landlord’s farm without any payment/labour wages.
