This process of evolution of different species in a given geographical area starting from a point and literally radiating to other areas of geography (habitats) is called adaptive radiation. Disruptive selection allows evolution in different directions, leading to adaptive radiation.

Stabilising selection is a type of natural selection in which the population mean stabilizes on a particular non-extreme trait value. This means that most common phenotype in the population is selected for and continues to dominate in future generations. So, adaptive radiation is not possible with stabilising selection. In fact, stabilising selection does not promote speciation.
