Concave mirrors are used by dentists.
Dentists use a concave mirror and place it near the patient’s tooth in such a way that the distance between the tooth and the mirror is less than its focal length. In this way, a magnified image of the tooth is formed, and the image is an upright or erect image. Thus, dentists can easily detect a defect in the patient’s tooth. Dentists use a concave mirror called the mouth mirror to get a larger and clear view of the patient’s mouth. When the position of the concave mirror is adjusted between its pole and the focus, a large and virtual image is obtained.
