Detailed Solution

Shah Alam II was the Mughal emperor blinded by the nobles.
Nobles at their court blinded Ahmad Shah (1748-1754) and Shah Alam II (1759-1816). However, it severely diminished the emperor's standing during the Mughal era. Shah Alam II, the seventeenth Mughal Emperor and Alamgir II's son was also known by his birth name Ali Gohar (or Ali Gauhar). Shah Alam II came to rule a Mughal empire that was in disarray. He was regarded as the sole and legitimate monarch, but he did not reach Delhi again until 1772, when the Maratha general Mahadaji Shinde guarded him. At the Battle of Buxar, he also engaged in combat with the East India Company.
