Luminous objects emit light of their own.
The objects that emit their light are known as luminous objects. Fireflies and the sun are a few examples of luminous objects. On the other hand, objects that do not emit their own light are known as non-luminous objects. Wood and brick are a few examples of non-luminous objects. Also, the objects that do not allow the passage of the light are known as opaque objects and the objects that allow the passage of the light through them are known as transparent objects.
