Marwar was the Rajput state that was taken under direct control by Aurangzeb.
Marwar is an area in Rajasthan state in southwest India, popularly known as the Jodhpur region.
It partially resides in the Thar Desert. During the reign of Aurangzeb, he took Marwar under his direct rule. The Rathore clan, led by Durgadas Rathore, revolted in 1679 after Aurangzeb refused to crown the young Rathore prince as king and assumed direct control of Jodhpur. This greatly agitated the Hindu Rajput monarchs under Aurangzeb and sparked numerous uprisings throughout Rajputana. Every emperor, including Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, and Aurangzeb, had a different approach to dealing with the Rajputs in political matters.
