Detailed Solution

Insulin decreases blood glucose level by stimulating glycogenesis (conversion of glucose into glycogen).

(1) Insulin does not stimulate glucagon production. A fall in blood glucose levels stimulates the production of glucagon.

(3) Insulin decreases blood glucose level by promoting cellular uptake of glucose.

(4) Glucagon increases blood glucose levels by stimulating glycogenolysis. The second step of glycogenolysis is the hydrolysis of α16 glycosidic bonds. The last (fourth) step of glycogenolysis is the hydrolysis of glucose-6-phosphate to glucose.
