Narmada river do not form a delta. Narmada is a west-flowing river draining into the Arabian Sea. Narmada and Tapi (Tapti) are the only rivers in peninsular India flowing towards the west. It flows through the rift valley formed between the Vindhya and Satpura ranges. Since it is a rift valley river, Narmada forms estuaries before draining into the Arabian Sea. The river originates in the Amarkantak plateau of Madhya Pradesh.
