In the Nashik district of Maharashtra, the Godavari stream originates from the Western Ghats. The Godavari is the second longest river in India after the Ganges. Its source is in Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra in Nasik district. It flows east for 1,465 kilometers (910 mi), draining the states of Maharashtra (48.6%), Telangana (18.8%), Andhra Pradesh (4.5%), Chhattisgarh (10.9%), Odisha (5 .7%) and finally flows into the Bay of Bengal.
