Particularly, they desired to improve their trading relations with the countries in Southeast Asia. The dynasty of Chera ruled during the Sangam era as well as the 9th century. This dynasty was best known for its navy, which was claimed to be the best then. After that, the Chola dynasty defeated the Chera dynasty ruler and expanded its empire from Tiruchi to Andhra Pradesh. However, the Pandya dynasty reigned in Tamil Nadu from the 6th century BC to the 15th century BC.
