Detailed Solution

An Italian revolutionary, Giuseppe Mazzini, formed two underground societies named Young Italy in Marseilles and Young Europe in Berne. Giuseppe Mazzini was born in Genoa in 1807 and was a member of a secret society of the Carbonari. Mazzini was sent into exile at the age of 24 for attempting a revolution in Liguria and later formed these two societies. The members of these societies were like-minded young men from France, Poland, Italy, and German states. Mazzini believed that Italy could not continue as a patchwork of small states and kingdoms, and it needed to be integrated and formed into a nation as a whole.
